According to the Order of rector «About bringing changes into the structure of the institute» from October, 02, 2008 there was organized a new structural unit in Nukus Teacher-Training Institute named «Historical Faculty». There are 4 chairs on the faculty: “history”, “National Independence Ideology; Spirituality and the Human Rights”, “Social Studies” and “Economic Theory.” The professorial-teaching staff consists of 73 professors. There is 1 academician, 7 doctors, 22 candidates and docents among them. 2 professors are the distinguished scholars of Karakalpakstan.
The scientific potential of the faculty makes 31,5%. In the academic year 2008-2009 the professors of the faculty published 6 monographs, 10 teaching-methodological aids, 5 textbooks, 30 scientific articles and over 20 theses. Research works are dedicated to the epoch of the beginning of Zoroastrianism proceeding up-to-date Islam and its meaning in the ancient delta of the Amu-Darya in the XI-XII-th centuries A.D. as well as to the research of the History of the Karakalpak people in the Middle Age and on the new stage of development. The faculty of history has scientific links with a lot of scientific institutes of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, with Uzbek National University, with Tashkent State Teacher-Training University, with Moscow State University, with Institute of History of Russian Science Academy, with state universities of Samarkand and Urgench.
More than 600 students study on the historical faculty in the fields of baccalaureate every year. After the graduation from the Institute they get qualifications «A teacher of History», «A Teacher of National Independence Ideology; Spirituality and the Human Rights.»
